Chiropractic is a primary health care discipline which utilises the highest level of evidence in the provision of effective patient evaluation and care. Chiropractors specialise in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of mechanical disorders of the spine, joints and muscles.

Clinical evidence has consistently demonstrated the safety and effectiveness of chiropractic care

McTimoney Chiropractic treatments consist of gentle manipulation techniques known as adjustments to restore function, mobility and balance to joints. Chiropractic is suitable for all ages from babies to people in their 90’s.

Chiropractic management also includes rehabilitative exercises, patient education, lifestyle modification and the use of physical therapies and supports.

There is an emphasis on health promotion and early return to activities for injured patients. The focus on education and patient empowerment is an important factor in the success of chiropractic management and the high levels of patient satisfaction.

Muscular and skeletal problems can be progressive disorders, building up over a period of time due to work, poor posture and recreation. For long term disorders the key is to seek help prior to noticeable pain and disability. With the help and assistance of your chiropractor you may be able to alter the cycle of pain and disability using early treatment.

Format Approach

The first appointment can take up to 90 minutes depending on individual situations and allows time for a full and comprehensive medical history to be taken, a full body assessment to be completed and a treatment. The Chiropractor will identify any underlying musculo-skeletal issues in order to isolate and rectify the cause of the problem and not simply treat the pain. Subsequent appointments (30-45mins) are usually 1 week apart depending upon the severity of the problem and become more spaced out as the symptoms improve.   Typically between 2 and 6 treatments will be required depending on individual circumstances.
