Our Physiotherapist is Heike Fraser
Physiotherapy is a physical hands-on treatment to promote, maintain and regain use of your body after injury, accident or disease. The aim is to help your muscles and joints work to their full potential and to improve their range of movement in order to promote health and well-being. In this way, it is similar to complementary therapies and is often used alongside.
Physiotherapy involves a range of treatments, including mobilisation and manipulation, triggerpoint and friction massage, stretching and exercises. It teaches you how to improve strength and mobility by using your body more effectively.
Physiotherapy techniques are suitable for all ages including small children and the elderly.
What does Physiotherapy treat?
Physiotherapy concentrates particular on problems that affect muscles, bones and circulation. It is excellent in the treatment of all musculo-skeletal conditions, especially necks, backs, joint and soft-tissue problems (e.g. Muscle strains and Ligament damage).
Physiotherapy can treat long-term conditions, such as arthritis, osteoporosis, and joint replacements as well as rehabilitation after surgery and sport injuries. It can be very effective to reduce pain and stiffness and speed up the overall healing process.
Format/Approach
At your first visit the Physiotherapist will do a detailed assessment and examination of your condition and help you understand the cause of your problems. We will then develop an effective treatment plan which takes your lifestyle, leisure activities and general health into account. This will generally include strengthening and stretching exercises that you can do between treatments and advice on how you can help yourself. Your treatment plan will be reviewed throughout the sessions, allowing for any changes that might occur.
