About CounsellingGo back to The Practitioners

Deb’s main theoretical approach is person-centered, meaning that the counselling is non-directive and uses the core conditions of respect, empathy and congruence to help build a therapeutic relationship, within which the client can safely explore difficult areas of their life either past or present. Working in this way can help to resolve issues and can lead to the client making changes.

Counselling can help with a variety of different issues including:
• Bereavement
• Childhood sexual abuse
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Relationship problems
• Stress
• Sexual identity

Counselling usually requires more than one meeting and this will be discussed at the first session. The counselling contract and relationship will also be regularly reviewed by the client and counsellor. Each session lasts 60 minutes.
