Cranio
Sacral Therapy
Modern
Cranio Sacral techniques combines the work of two leading osteopaths:
Dr William G. Sutherland in the early 1900s and Dr John Upledger in
the 1970s.
The
craniosacral system consists of the membranes of the central nervous
system, their bony attachments to the cranial bones, the sacrum and
the cerebrospinal fluid, which rhythmically moves within the craniosacral
system. Scientific research showed that these movements are linked with
mental and emotional health.
Restriction
of movement reduces the body's natural capacity to self-heal. Cranio
Sacral Therapists use this rhythmic movement to facilitate and identify
restrictions both within the system and throughout the body's connective
tissue.
Cranio
Sacral Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive manipulative technique. The
therapist places hands on parts of the body, usually the spine and the
head, applying pressure not more than 5 grams. These techniques are
therefore suitable for babies, children and elderly, as well as adults
in fragile or acutely painful conditions.
The
work can address issues in whatever way the client wishes: Physical
aches and pains, acute and chronic diseases, emotional or psychological
disturbances, or simply developing well-being, health and vitality.
Common
difficulties that Cranio Sacral Therapy may help are chronic pain, reduced
mobility ('stiff joints'), low energy, headaches and migraine, neck
and back pain, jaw (temporomandibular joint) problems, neuralgia, learning
difficulties, menstrual and menopausal problems, etc.
In
newborns, infants and children: colic, hyperactivity, feeding and sleeping
problems and faulty development are often helped by Cranio Sacral Therapy.
Shiatsu
- Acupressure
Shiatsu
is an oriental healing method in which specific pressure points along
the body's meridian points are pressed to stimulate the movement of
stagnated energy. Shiatsu can:
